Newest at the top, oldest at the bottom. Just like life. Or the sweater shelf at The Gap.

"Overdue Library Books",
one of two 19" x 24" pieces I did for the "Cheap Thrills" show at Design Within Reach.

"Hook Shot ",
the other 19" x 24" piece I did for the "Cheap Thrills" show at Design Within Reach.

"Robot with Balloons",
from the "Cheap Thrills"
show at Design Within Reach.

"Metal"
Easily the crowd favorite of
that "Cheap Thrills" batch.

Surprisingly, and sadly, perhaps,
no metal was listened to while
painting this piece.

"The Potrzebowskis"
(commissioned family portrait)

Dori, Monkey Vampire, and Talie
(commissioned portrait)

"Jane Garside"
(commissioned celebrity portrait)

"Nacho & Salsa"
(Commissioned painting)

This rad centipede was commissioned by my friend Noah
(who easily owns the most dwellephant art in the world).
His mother is deathly afraid of centipedes.
So, like a good son, he had me paint one for her.

A gift to Cedar Brent, based on this joke
his five-year-old niece told him:

Q: Why did the elephant go in the pond?
A: Because he couldn't keep his trunk up!

Another gift to Cedar Brent, based on
this joke his five-year-old niece told him:

A penguin dove into the swimming pool...
... but there was no water in it!!!

Happy cat and friends? Or dinner?

J.Mohr nabbed this at Art vs. Craft...

...and this.

Three of the 50 wooden eggs I painted for Art vs. Craft in December.

Three more of 'em.

Sea monster

Fun with colored pencil on black paperboard!

More of the same, but girlier.

Lil' robot guy.

For Lady J.

Spot illustration for Aqui magazine.

Family portrait commission.

Wooden Bowl painted for a fundraiser I can't remember the name of at the moment.
It was a benefit for hungry people, and it happened in November. (Forgetting is what happens when you wait six months to update your site.)

I'd just finished reading Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys. In it, they tell the tale of Anansi, and how he took all the tiger's stories. I thought it was one of the best tales I'd read in years, so I made a modest acrylic-on-cedar tribute.

Obviously, this is the bottom side of the bowl.
Around the brim, it reads, "You can take the tiger's stories,
but can not take his heart." And beneath that
are spiders represnting lil' ol' Anansi.

Promotional postcard for 91.7 FM, WMSE.
As part of their fundraising efforts (they're an independent,
listener-supported, and most excellent radio station),
they published a fully illustrated cookbook filled with
recipes from listeners, volunteers, DJs, and musicians.

I was asked to use my personal typography
to turn one of the featured recipes into a postcard,
announcing the cookbook's printing.

Also: those cookies are delicious.

Tiny, framed Halloween art. (All sold, too.)

Show poster - Juniper Tar

Drawing From Memory - #01-03
(My monthly comic in Vital Source's print edition.)

Pencil sketch - "Swearingen"
The greatest character ever written for television.
We just finished watching the series in its entirety.
I sat down, opened my book, picked up the pencil,
and doodled this out in minutes.

A fluke, to be sure.

I enjoy it.

painted journal
All birds can shoot lasers out of themselves.

All birds.
"Dori as a monster"
Vital Source magazine hired myself, and two other very attractive artists, to do caricatures of people at their 5th Birthday Carnival.

I drew everyone as a monster.
monster
I think I may have painted this for myself.
dude in a hat
Ryan Schleicher
(whose likeness actually appears on
this page) bought this.

This was for the "festival issue"
of free Milwaukee weekly MKE.

And our dwellephant brand hand model's hand.

For their Valentine's Day issue, where we (artists) were asked to create our version of Cupid.
rollerskating birds
Another commission,
for Queen Latina of the Brewcity Bruisers.
birds on a wire
Another one, for a friend's forthcoming child.
personal/commission
Initially, I did this for myself. Something theraputic, since a lot of people I knew were going under the knife in an attempt to get Cancer out of them.

Then Sarah Marine asked me to make one for her friend.
The Schleicher Brothers
They're kind of like
the Baldwins or the Wayans.

Only in Milwaukee.

Click on the lil' pic to see the complete
four-painting series.

The Little Klie Tea Party
A commission. I was asked to paint "something cute."

As opposed to all the violent stuff I paint the rest of the time.

The first flier I ever did for Juniper Tar.
Brewcity Bruisers poster
Another collaboration with Ellagraph.

This was the poster used to promote the entire debut season's schedule.

The original logo for famed jewelry maker Meghan Williams.
"The Baggage Claim"
Painting from a show
I did with Joy Harmon called
"The Littlest Birds..."
"The One About Carly"
Another painting from the "The Littlest Birds..." show.

Carly is a friend of mine
who used to live in New Orleans, but sadly moved away when Hurricane Katrina ate her home.
"Who? You."
I think Jose is the one who said this looks like some old Disney art.
Crap...
I forget the title to this one. It's from a group show I did in Spring of 2006.
"Better. Faster. Stronger."
From the same group show as
that one with
the fish and the umbrella dude.
WMSE 25th Anniversary poster
I entered a contest.

I was one of ten selected winners.

I won an iPod.

I gave it to Ladyphant.
CD cover for Intel's Dirtier
I made this back in early '06, I think.

Intel JUST finished the mix in Fall 2007.
CD cover:
Da Whole Thing - At Version City
It's a long story leading to me doing this album art. I'll just say it's one of the things I'm most honored to have asked to do.
"catburglar"
Collaboration with Ellagraph for "My Comic"-- the comic I used to make for tastes like chicken.
"food service"
Another "My Comic" collaboration with Ellagraph.
"elephant town "
The very first "My Comic" collaboration with Ellagraph.
sales catalog cover
Brach's Candies hired me to create seasonal images for the Fall and Winter sales catalogs.

Click the image to see both of them.
Jolie Holland
One of the best interviews I ever
did in tastes like chicken was with
a then-unknown
Jolie Holland.

This is the portrait that accompanied it both in print, and online.
Saul Williams
I also had the pleasure of interviewing Saul Williams. Twice.

This is from the first one, inspired by a passage from his book,
",said the shotgun to the head"
"Flying Pig"
from "My Comic"
"Butch"
Based on a dream I had, of an old friend I miss dearly.
"the pretty brown-haired girl"
I've never seen her since.
cover,
tastes like chicken magazine
Kermit the Frog was our feature interview. Drawing this fulfilled a life-long dream. Sort of.
girl zombie
For Miranda, who is not a zombie of any kind.
collaboration
I got to mash-up my "My Comic" with Erik Rose's "Vanitas."

Easily one of my favorite things I've ever done.
t-shirt, tastes like chicken
Our first shirt during our short-lived magazine era.

We're pretty sure one of the parodied Shirt Tales was wearing an homage to this on Robot Chicken.
black dogs
My submission to tlchicken.com's "Sketchbook" section.

The theme: dreams.
One-armed girl
One of my favorite pieces.

If you bought it, email me. I'd like to know how she's doing.
